CFKidz is a children’s ministry uniquely designed for kids, birth through fifth grade, to experience safe, age-appropriate environments where the Bible is taught in a creative way that kids can understand.
What We've Learned
What is the vision of CFKidz?
CFKidz is a place where kids learn about Jesus on their level.
Every Sunday, children experience safe, age-appropriate environments where the Bible is taught in a creative and relevant way.
When kids leave CFKidz, we want them to be able to answer two questions: What did you learn? Did you have fun? In order to achieve that, we focus each week on a Need To Know, a short takeaway drawn out of Scripture that we teach throughout the CFKidz service.
Who attends CFKidz?
Babies through fifth-grade children attend CFKidz during the adult worship service on Sundays. We are so passionate about kids learning about Jesus in a way they can understand. We want to be a church that nurtures children and doesn’t hinder them. In CFKidz, we have age-appropriate environments that are safe, creative, and fun where kids can learn about Jesus on their level. Jesus said in Matthew 19:4, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
What does a child experience in a CFKidz service?
When children enter a CFKidz environment, they spend time in activity stations where they build relationships with volunteers who love Jesus and love them. They get to do this while playing with the newest and most popular toys and games. After playing at activity stations, kids enter a large group service that includes worship songs and a skit acted out by volunteers who teach that day’s Need to Know and Bible story. Another part of the CFKidz experience includes small group time where children gather with a small group leader to spend time building relationships, reading a Bible story, playing games, and learning how to apply what they learned.
What process do you use for checking-in children?
Every week when children come to CFKidz, they begin their experience at one of our check-in stations. Here, children receive a tag with their name, grade, and any other important information. The child’s parent or guardian also receives a tag that matches the three-digit, alpha-numeric code on the bottom of their child’s nametag. This check-in/check-out system ensures that each child who participates in our children’s ministry is released only to an authorized parent or guardian at the end of the service.
How do you contact parents in case of emergency?
In case of emergency, we contact parents by flashing the child's last name and the three-digit, alpha-numeric code parents received at check-in on the screens in the service. This notifies parents that we need them without the distraction of a phone call. It also eliminates most of the possibility that they will miss the notification.
How do you enforce safety in your children’s ministry?
Every CFKidz volunteer is background checked and undergoes a one-on-one conversation to ensure the safety of the children in their care. In addition, we have a security team patrolling our environments. Their main goal is to protect our children and enforce our safety policies and procedures. Any person inside a CFKidz environment must be wearing proper identification, such as a staff name tag, volunteer lanyard, or guest lanyard. These safety measures, as well as our bathroom policies, check-in/check-out procedures, and evacuation plans are designed with our children in mind. As a church, it is our desire to provide an environment where children feel safe and can focus on learning about Jesus and having fun. We also understand how much safety matters to parents, and we make all efforts to ensure they are comfortable leaving their children in our care as they enjoy a distraction-free service.
Does your church minister to individuals with special needs and their families?
Yes! Sidekicks is our ministry designed to serve children and students with special needs. Located within CFKidz, Sidekicks provides children with an opportunity to learn about Jesus in a one-on-one setting or with the aid of a buddy who joins them in a regular CFKidz environment.
Who are your volunteers?
We believe that saved people serve people, so we encourage all attenders to take their next step in serving. CFKidz volunteers are men and women who are sixth grade or older and who love children and desire to see them learn about Jesus on their level. Our volunteers differ in age — some are parents, grandparents, singles, or students. Most CFKidz volunteers serve every week to help build relationships with the children they’re serving. We know that without volunteers CFKidz would not happen the way it does every week!
